I experienced my first magnitude 7.0-7.5 earthquake when I was almost 23 months old. It almost knocked me to the ground. That 1946 Vancouver Island earthquake struck Vancouver Island on June 23 at 10:15 a.m. with a magnitude estimated at 7.0 Ms[2] and 7.5 Mw.[6] The main shock epicenter occurred in the Forbidden Plateau area northwest of Courtenay. While most of the large earthquakes in the Vancouver area occur at tectonic plate boundaries, the 1946 Vancouver Island earthquake was a crustal event. Shaking was felt from Portland, Oregon, to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. This is one of the most damaging earthquakes in the history of British Columbia, but damage was restricted because there were no heavily populated areas near the epicenter, where severe shaking occurred. There were, however, a whole series of landslides in the Forbidden Plateau area there were a whole series of landslides blocked streams and rivers to create lakes. The first hikers into the area gave them great names, Landslide Lake, Rock Fall Lake, Earthquake Lake etc.; over time these natural dams were eroded to nothing, leaving nothing but fading memories of those lakes. This earthquake is Canada's largest historic onshore earthquake.[1] Three years later, an earthquake, an M8.1, struck at 8:01 p.m. PDT on August 2, 1949 in Haida Gwaii [formerly Queen Charlotte Islands], an inter-plate earthquake that occurred on the ocean bottom just off the west coast of the main south island [Graham Island]. The shock had a surface wave magnitude of 8.1 and a maximum Mercalli Intensity of VIII (Severe).

The Honest Pre-flight Safety Demonstration Video That Airlines Are Afraid to Show You

https://youtu.be/SZB4_-tiRt0 [6:52 minutes]

We've all heard the pre-flight safety speech a million times. There's some stuff we should know about airline safety, but they're not telling us. I spoke to an active commercial pilot and did some research to provide some more interesting and relevant info you should be getting before you fly. Just a little travel-related info-tainment for the summer. Enjoy. Doug Lansky is a TEDx and keynote speaker and advisor in the tourism industry. Raid on the Iraqi Reactor ! - Secrets Details of the Raid Now Released

https://youtu.be/PeHc4vbQrNY   [44:42 minutes]

Joseph Wouk
Published on Sep 4, 2014
Operation Opera (Hebrew: אופרה‎),[1]
also known as Operation Babylon,[2] was a surprise Israeli air
strike carried out on 7 June 1981, that destroyed a nuclear reactor
under construction 17 kilometers (10.5 miles) southeast of Baghdad,
Iraq.[3][4][5] This operation was after Iran's Operation Scorch
Sword that damaged this nuclear facility months before. In 1976,
Iraq purchased an "Osiris"-class nuclear reactor from
France.[6][7] While Iraq and France maintained that the reactor,
named Osirak by the French, was intended for peaceful scientific
research,[8] the Israelis viewed the reactor with suspicion, and
said that it was designed to make nuclear weapons.[3] On 7 June
1981, a flight of Israeli Air Force F-16A fighter aircraft, with an
escort of F-15As, bombed and heavily damaged the Osirak reactor.[9]
Israel claimed it acted in self-defense, and that the reactor had
"less than a month to go" before "it might have
become critical."[10] Ten Iraqi soldiers and one French
civilian were killed.[11] The attack took place about three weeks
before the elections for the Knesset.[12] The attack was strongly
criticized around the world and Israel was rebuked by the United
Nations Security Council and General Assembly in two separate
resolutions.[13][14] The destruction of Osirak has been cited as an
example of a preventive strike in contemporary scholarship on
international law.

RCAF SAR CH149 103 Sqn Iceland 2016

https://youtu.be/WrH301KO6ew   [15:21 minutes]

Capt SAR
Published on Feb 28, 2016
103 (SAR) Sqn deployed to Iceland in February 2016 to conduct exercises with the Icelandic Coast Guard and ICE SAR organization. The objective of the exercise was to work on the tactical interoperability of Canada, Greenland and Iceland. Canada is a leader of the SAR Arctic Council and initiated the training to create connections in case of marine and land rescue in the North Atlantic region. The tactical connections made during the exercise will be a tangible asset to all involved in future missions in the North. The exchange of procedures and protocols will also benefit both Canada and Iceland for their respective SAR program at home. 103 Sqn has made the North Atlantic its playground and has now reinforced its friendship with an important ally in the region.
